Insider ExWHUemployee has stated that West Ham United could make a surprise move for Scott McTominay this summer.

The Hammers have been linked with a number of new midfield signings over the past weeks and months, such as Hans Vanaken of Club Brugge.

The latest name to be added to that list is the Manchester United man, whose position at his club could soon be in doubt following the arrival of Casemiro.

Indeed, while speaking about how the Red Devils’ signing of the man from Real Madrid could change things in Manchester, Ex said that McTominay could now be available on loan – and West Ham could look to explore a deal.

Speaking on The West Ham Way podcast, the insider said: “It will be interesting to monitor the situation with Scott McTominay at Manchester United.

“Scott McTominay’s position may be under threat. David Moyes really, really rates the player. He spoke about him before the last Euros and said he’s one to keep an eye on – although he did say that about Alex Kral as well.

“But he is one to keep an eye on, and I think if he’s available on loan – which it isn’t clear whether he is or not – but if he does suddenly become available on loan, I think that’s a signing that we could look to explore as well.”

TIF Thoughts on Scott McTominay and West Ham…

Interestingly, Scott McTominay averages more successful dribbles per game (1.3) than other targets Lucas Paquetá (0.5) and Hans Vanaken (1.2).

According to a report in 90min, Everton, Southampton and Leicester City are also understood to be keen on signing McTominay alongside unnamed clubs in both Italy and Germany, so West Ham may face plenty of competition should they want to make a move for the midfielder.

With McTominay starting in United’s 2-1 win over Liverpool in the Premier League earlier this week, it may be a surprise that someone so close to the first team at Old Trafford could be made available.

However, the 25-year-old only picked up a 6/10 rating for his efforts in the Manchester Evening News, and with Casemiro to come in, it feels as though his spot in the side could be up for grabs.

With that in mind, he may well be allowed to leave this summer. If that is the case, it certainly looks like a possible loan move to West Ham could be something to keep an eye out for.
