Presenter ExWHUemployee has claimed that left-back Emerson has likely been discussed by West Ham United as a possible transfer option.

The Hammers have seemingly been in talks with Chelsea this summer over the possibility of signing a number of their talents such as Conor Gallagher and Armando Broja.

And while it remains to be seen as to whether or not any deal for those two players is possible, Ex has stated that another Blues man may have been discussed as an option for West Ham this summer.

While sharing a post to The West Ham Way Patreon page, the transfer insider stated: “I have asked around on Emerson and [Hans] Vanaken.

“What I can say is that both have been linked and had talks in previous windows. I have reported that we have talked to Chelsea about a number of their fringe players so it is very likely that Emerson has been discussed and would be able to play left back/left wing-back.”

TIF Thoughts on Emerson and West Ham…

Backing up this claim, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has stated that a discussion over a deal worth £13m is taking place between Chelsea and West Ham regarding the defender, who has two years now left on his contract.

Emerson has never really been able to nail down a regular spot with his current club since arriving in 2018 and spent last season out on loan with Lyon.

In Ligue 1, however, he played regularly, making 26 starts and averaging a 6.91 average match rating on SofaScore – showing that he still has plenty to offer.

Taking everything into account, it looks as though West Ham may well see Emerson as a genuine option as we head towards the final weeks of the summer transfer market.
