West Ham United could potentially hold a ‘trump card’ in their pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt and Serbia wing-back Filip Kostic this summer due to the player’s agent.

That is according to TalkSport reporter Alex Crook, who was speaking to GiveMeSport about the Irons’ potential transfer business ahead of the window’s closure in September.

David Moyes’ side have made four signings this summer, with the Scotsman looking to find a way to balance domestic and Europa Conference League football this campaign.

The club have been widely thought to be in negotiations for Kostic, who won the Europa League with Frankfurt last season whilst also winning the award for the player of the tournament, but according to claims in Italy emerging on Sunday, Inter and Juventus are interested in the 29-year-old as well and West Ham could find out their fate in terms of signing him in the next 48-72 hours – meaning an endgame could be approaching imminently.

However, Crook believes that the Hammers could have a trump card to play, with Kostic’s agent the same representative of Gianluca Scamacca, who the club signed from Sassuolo in July.

He said: “Obviously, West Ham can offer more in wages. They’re still pushing and are still hopeful.

“I think they’re hoping their trump card can be the fact that he’s got the same agent as Scamacca.”

TIF Thoughts on Crook’s comments…

We believe that West Ham fans will be delighted to hear that they could potentially have an advantage over the Serie A pair, as Kostic could prove to be a vital signing for the club.

With Aaron Cresswell getting on at the age of 32, it might be time for Moyes to have another genuine top-class option in that left-back spot, and it looks for all the world that Kostic could be that man.

However, it does seem as though the ball is not in the Hammers’ court at present, although it appears they are ready to pounce should Kostic turn down a move to Italy.
