According to insider ExWHUemployee, West Ham United are interested in bringing Trevoh Chalobah to the club on loan this summer, but face competition from clubs around Europe.

The Hammers are in desperate need of adding defensive options before the end of the window as they currently sit bottom of the Premier League table with zero points and the joint-worst goal difference of -5.

While they have already bought in reinforcements like Nayef Aguerd and Thilo Kehrer, the former has yet to play for the club in the league due to injury and the latter gave away a penalty on his debut in their 2-0 loss against Brighton & Hove Albion.

With the club still having domestic loans available, Ex has revealed they are interested in bringing in Chalobah from Chelsea, but could face competition as football giants Spurs, Roma and Inter are also interested in the defender.

Ex told The Transfer Show: “Tottenham, Roma, and Inter Milan are interested in Chelsea’s English centre-back, Trevoh Chalobah, 23 years of age. West Ham, I think, are also looking at potentially loaning him as well.”

TIF Thoughts on Ex’s comments…

There is no doubt West Ham are in need of defensive help as they have shipped five goals this season while failing to score and currently look more likely to be in a relegation fight rather than challenging the top six, though it is still early days, of course.

While a more guaranteed top-level centre-back would be preferable, Chalobah is proven at this level, and at just 23, he has a long career ahead of him with the potential to match.

Last season, the English defender broke into the Chelsea first team under Thomas Tuchel and picked up 30 appearances while notching four goals and two assists in all competitions for the Blues.

The Hammers may find it hard to compete for his signature with the calibre of the competition, but one thing that will play in their favour – and the reason why we think he should sign for them – is that he would surely be guaranteed more football at the London Stadium.

This deal could be hugely beneficial for both West Ham and Chalobah, and with it being just a loan deal, there is no way anyone gets burned if things do not pan out as hoped.
