ExWHUemployee has urged people to keep an eye on West Ham United potentially moving for Ross Barkley while speaking on The Transfer Show.

At the time of writing, West Ham have been the third-biggest spenders this transfer window having brought in eight new signings, which will certainly please David Moyes and also help them cope with playing plenty of midweek games this season due to their participation in the Europa Conference League.

While many may believe that could be the Hammers’ business finished with given how little is left of the transfer window and how much money they’ve already splashed out, Moyes has recently spoken highly of Barkley, who’s now a free agent and could be one to keep an eye on, according to ExWHUemployee.

It has been claimed that the Hammers could move for Barkley following his release from Chelsea, and ExWHUemployee has urged fans to keep an eye on that deal.

He said: “Ross Barkley has been released on a free transfer. I don’t know if you saw, but [in] Moyes’ press conference today [Tuesday], he spoke highly of him and didn’t rule out making a move for Ross Barkley, so that’s one to keep an eye on.”

TIF Thoughts on West Ham potentially moving for Barkley…

While many West Ham fans and neutrals may turn their nose up at the prospect of signing Barkley, he did indeed break onto the scene at Everton, where Moyes handed him his first-team debut, so the Hammers boss will know what makes the midfielder click and how to hopefully get the best out of him.

However, they may have to move quickly as both Celtic and Rangers have been credited with an interest in the midfielder, and with both clubs able to offer Champions League football and a real chance of lifting some silverware this season, he may prefer a move north of the border.

Barkley’s career has certainly stalled since leaving Everton for Chelsea, playing just 58 times in the league since joining in 2018, so he would need a lot of motivation to get back to his peak Everton days when he was being called up to the England squad, but Moyes could be the man to do just that and land a bargain of a free agent in the process.
