Presenter Dan Lawless has slammed talk that Ainsley Maitland-Niles could join West Ham United on loan claiming that he would be a bench warmer.

It seems as though the England international could be on the move this summer with football.london reporting that he will likely leave Arsenal if the opportunity arises.

One potential suitor, it seems, could be West Ham with the transfer insider ExWHUemployee recently saying that this could be a deal that is potentially going to be explored.

In reaction to the news, though, Lawless took to Twitter to say: ‘Why would he want to join West Ham just to warm our bench?

“Surely there has to be better moves out there for him?

TIF thoughts on Ainsley Maitland-Niles and West Ham…

The West Ham Fan TV man evidently feels as though Maitland-Niles doesn’t have the quality to break into David Moyes’ first team on a regular basis.

However, the player’s versatility could possibly hand him a major boost when it comes to gaining regular minutes. Indeed, the Arsenal man can operate as a central midfielder, as a right or left-sided midfielder, as well as playing on either flank as a defender, and he has even played at centre-back once in his career.

And so, the 24-year-old may not necessarily be able to come into the first team immediately, but it likely wouldn’t take long before he got a chance to impress in one of many positions.

And considering he has five senior caps for England, he may well have the quality to become a regular in the West Ham set-up regardless of what Lawless thinks.
