Insider ExWHUemployee has expressed his excitement over the signing of new West Ham United player Maxwel Cornet.

The 25-year-old completed his medical with the Hammers earlier this week as he signed a five-year contract following a £17.5m transfer fee.

The winger scored nine Premier League goals with Burnley last season and clearly did enough in that time to impress David Moyes even though the Clarets were ultimately relegated.

Reacting to the news, Ex took to Twitter to outline his delight. He simply wrote: “Really excited about this signing.”

TIF thoughts on Maxwel Cornet and West Ham…

Arriving with good experience of the Premier League with Burnley, and a solid record in France with Lyon – where he netted 51 goals and claimed 29 assists in 252 games – Cornet should bring plenty of proven quality to this West Ham side.

On top of that, it’s not as if the Hammers have had to break the bank to get this transfer across the line, and so it’s easy to see why Ex is happy with the deal.

However, for all the excitement, it doesn’t look as if the winger will be able to make his debut this weekend unfortunately. Indeed, Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth claimed that he wasn’t registered in time to make him a likely option for the match against Manchester City.

He said: “We don’t believe Cornet was registered before midday [on Friday] so it’s unlikely he will play for West Ham against Manchester City on Super Sunday.

“His first appearance is likely to be away at Nottingham Forest next weekend.”
