According to ExWHUemployee, West Ham United have become frustrated with Club Brugge over their valuation of their attacking midfielder, Hans Vanaken, but insists the two are still in negotiations.
After their horrendous start to the 22/23 Premier League season, they are currently sitting bottom of the table as the only team without a win and the only team yet to score a goal, the Hammers are looking to bring in more firepower in midfield.
They have recently been linked with a late swoop for Newcastle United target Lucas Paqueta before the end of the window. They are also working with Belgian outfit, Club Brugge, to bring in their star man Vanaken, who has publicly declared his desire to join the east London club.
However, it would appear they have hit a stumbling block with the latter, as Ex recently reported the two clubs are yet to come to an agreement and are about £10m apart in price, which has led West Ham to become frustrated.
Ex wrote on the West Ham Way Patreon page, “The club has become frustrated with Hans Vanaken’s club Brugge and their valuation of the player which appears to be about £10m apart. The talks will continue and it isn’t over at all however there is a long way to go in terms of fee. Personal terms should be easier as the player is desperate to move”.
TIF Thoughts on Vanaken to West Ham…
It is no secret the Irons need to bring in a player who can both score goals and add creativity for their forwards like Michail Antonio, Gianluca Scamacca and Jarrod Bowen. For me, Vanaken is that guy and they should do whatever they can to bring him in.
The Belgian midfielder shone for Brugge last season, picking up 15 goals and 12 assists across all competitions and currently ranks in the 93rd percentile for non-penalty goals and the 97th for progressive passes per game compared to other players at his position in Europe’s top five leagues.
While the clubs still have a long way to go before an agreement is reached, the Hammers need to inject some new life into the team as soon as possible as manager David Moyes might be feeling his seat warm up a bit. There is no doubt West Ham still have a strong and talented side, but they need a spark to ignite the fire if they are to challenge the top six and make a push in the Europa Conference League.
