West Ham United are still interested in bringing in Conor Gallagher this summer and are looking to sign him on loan before the window shuts, according to ExWHUemployee.

With under a week left in the transfer window, the Hammers are still looking to bolster their midfield options after their disastrous start to the 22/23 Premier League season, and have identified, Gallagher, as a prime target.

No deal is yet to be agreed upon, but rumours are sparking that his former club Crystal Palace is the front-runner for his signature if he becomes available before the deadline. However, Ex recently revealed the east London club are still going to make a move for him.

Ex wrote on the West Ham Way Patreon page, “We still believe the club are interested in a move for Conor Gallagher and will try again for a loan of him from Chelsea or an alternative option from the same club”.

TIF Thoughts on Gallagher to West Ham…

Bringing in a player like Gallagher would transform West Ham’s midfield if he is played in a similar role to that during his time in south London. If he is given the ability to play box-to-box in a midfield three, he will shine. This comes with a move for Lucas Paqueta still in the pipeline as well, with the latest being a fee has been ‘agreed’.

The England international, who has been hailed as ‘extraordinary’ ranked in the 93rd percentile for pressures per game as well as the 96th for non-penalty goals and the 88th for progressive passes received, compared to other midfielders in Europe’s top five leagues. (Fbref)

So far this season the Hammers have opted for four, two, three, one, formation. So if they can integrate Gallagher as the eight, just behind the striker, they will reap the rewards that saw him bag eight goals last season.

But if they see him and want him as a replacement for Tomas Soucek, he will not perform to his best ability in that number six role, something we have seen so far at Chelsea this season.

There is no doubt he would be an exceptional and exciting signing for the Hammers, but they need to utilise him correctly. If they can do that, they will shoot back up the Premier League table.
