TalkSport’s Alex Crook feels West Ham United fans could quickly become agitated if they fail to pick up their first win this weekend and tips Brighton to cause an upset.

We are already two games into the 22/23 Premier League season and so far the Hammers have failed to pick up a point, losing their opening game against Manchester City 2-0, and embarrassingly lost to new boys Nottingham Forest 1-0 last weekend.

As a result of this, Crook recently claimed that he believes if the club fail to pick up a win in their next game against Brighton, fans could become annoyed with the club and tips them to lose once again.

Crook told the TalkSport GameDay podcast: “I actually fancy Brighton to cause a bit of an upset here and if West Ham start the season with three games without a win, their fans will start to get agitated because we know it doesn’t take much for that for the West Ham fans to get on the backs of the owners, and the players, and the manager.”

TIF Thoughts on Crook’s comments…

After their impressive 21/22 campaign which saw the Hammers finish seventh in the Premier League and make it all the way to the Europa League semi-final, starting the season without a win so far is undoubtedly disappointing for their fans.

It may also be more disappointing when you look at the money they have spent so far this summer, a whopping £111.29m on six new faces including Gianluca Scamacca, Nayef Aguerd, Maxwel Cornet and Alphonse Areola.

However, there is a long way to go in the season and while fans may and deservedly get frustrated with the club, manager and players if they were to lose once again, they have an incredibly promising side who are still gelling together.

These things take time, and luckily, West Ham have a lot of it right now.
