Tottenham Hotspur are looking to “fill in the gaps” for the remainder of the transfer window.

That is according to Dean Jones who was speaking to This is Futbol about the club’s potential transfer business heading into the remaining weeks of the window.

Antonio Conte has already welcomed six new faces to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season, and according to sources in Italy, Fiorentina and Serbia centre-back Nikola Milenkovic could potentially be the club’s seventh signing of the summer, with Chelsea also interested.

This could be a direct replacement for the seemingly inevitable departure of defender Japhet Tanganga, who has been linked with a move to AC Milan this summer.

And Jones believes that Milenkovic’s potential arrival would be as a result of a three-part transfer strategy composed by Spurs this season.

“I think the first phase of the business was to get those six signings done, and the next phase was to start getting people out the door, and then the last phase will be to fill in the gaps, so I think that’s where Milenkovic will probably fit in.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments

We believe Tottenham fans will be delighted to hear that the club has a clear transfer strategy and vision this summer, and the signing of Milenkovic may just be the ideal upgrade on Tanganga this season.

The 37-time Serbia international, who has been hailed as the ‘new Vidic’, made 39 appearances for the Serie A club last season, scoring three goals from centre-back, according to Transfermarkt.

Therefore, we believe that Fabio Paratici and Daniel Levy’s transfer dealings may be able to take Conte’s side to that next level, and get the club competing for trophies in the near future.
