According to Paul Gilmour of Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur could still sign Adama Traore this window as the player could be happy with a squad role.

Despite bringing in Ivan Perisic in the wing-back role with Ryan Sessegnon, Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal already in the squad, Spurs could look to add one more player in the position before the end of the window.

The player in question is Wolves outcast Traore, who has been previously linked with the club over the last few seasons, and while no deal has come to fruition so far, they could look to bring him in.

While he has not been impressive recently, Gilmour believes that due to his contract situation and potential happiness with a squad role in Antonio Conte’s side, it would not surprise him if they opt to sign the Spaniard.

Gilmour said on the Last Word on Spurs podcast, “It wouldn’t surprise me, simply because as I mentioned earlier, his contract situation – the contract’s running down with no sign of an extension, and he’s got Premier League experience, and he might be happy with that kind of squad role.”

TIF Thoughts on Traore to Spurs…

Despite having an abundance of talented players who can play in either wing-back position, if they can bring in Traore on a cheap deal and he is prepared to play a bit-part role, we feel Spurs would be foolish not to sign him.

Last season, Traore, who has been hailed as ‘unique’, did not impress for either Wolves or Barcelona during his brief loan spell, picking up just one goal and four assists in 40 appearances in total. However, he also currently ranks in the 99th percentile for dribbles completed and in the 95th for progressive carries per game, which shows he still has an attractive ability in his position.
