Journalist Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur players had to turn away after Oliver Skipp suffered a ‘nasty’ injury in training.

The midfielder suffered a recent fitness setback which meant he did not make the pre-season trip to Glasgow for a friendly against Rangers due to what was initially described as a ‘minor issue’.

However, it seems as though the injury was actually a lot worse than first reported, with Gold now explaining that the players couldn’t even look after an ‘unpleasant’ challenge on Skipp possibly even drawing blood.

While talking about the incident on his YouTube channel, Gold explained: “Oliver Skipp, still haven’t got him back yet. The more I hear about his injury, it was very unpleasant.

“It’s like a nasty, deep cut in his foot, where a stud essentially has gone through the top of his foot. An accidental impact injury in training on the Friday before the Rangers game, needed a lot of stitches.

“And from what I’m told, a lot of the players on the pitch were turning away, it was very unpleasant to see. And presumably, that means a lot of blood. And yeah, it’s just a case of that healing up.”

Skippy is one of those players who puts his body on the line every game he plays. Everyone loves his commitment levels, but I think though he has to give himself a chance for his muscles to completely heal before being so aggressive in the challenge in future, or injury could shorten his longevity in the game
