Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has tipped Tottenham Hotspur to finish third in the Premier League this season.

Spurs got off to a flyer this past weekend despite falling behind as they recovered to record a 4-1 win and move to the top of the table after the opening fixture.

With Champions League football to come this season, Antonio Conte has bolstered his ranks with six new additions – none of whom started the game against Southampton – but he now has the depth that could propel the Lilywhites closer to the top of the Premier League table come the season’s end.

TalkSport pundit Simon Jordan said back in May that he felt Conte would be able to catch both Liverpool and Manchester City if he received the right backing, and after plenty of incomings, Neville seems to think that they will at least climb above London rivals Chelsea this term.

Speaking on his podcast, Neville said: “During this week, I’ve said I actually think Tottenham are third this season.

“I just think they’re going to be a very solid outfit that are going to have consistency.

“The manager they’ve got, the signings they’ve made, suit the manager that they’ve got – obviously because he’s clever enough to bring in the players that he wants.”

Off the back of Saturday’s victory, Ally McCoist has gone on record to say that he feels that Spurs may well have the best front three in the country and now with a squad to match, fans will be excited by the possibilities that lie ahead for the Lilywhites this season.

Conte won a Premier League and an FA Cup in his two seasons at Chelsea before moving to Inter and leading the club to their first Scudetto in 11 years.

As a proven winner, he could well be the coach to end what will be a 15-year wait for a trophy by the time prizes are handed out in May, and he might just lead the club to a third-place finish above rivals Chelsea like Neville is anticipating judging by the start to his career in north London.
