Tottenham Hotspur director of football Fabio Paratici has had a huge influence on Daniel Levy ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

This has been revealed by Spurs correspondent Jack Pitt-Brooke, who has been speaking on The Athletic’s Football Podcast to discuss Tottenham’s summer so far.

Paratici was brought into the north London club last summer having just left Juventus, and he has already overseen some big changes at the club – including the recruitment of Antonio Conte.

The Italian has helped Spurs to bring in some big additions from Serie A in the shape of Cristian Romero, Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur.

And Pitt-Brooke believes the influence of the director has transformed Levy’s approach to this summer’s window, with six – soon to be seven – new players through the door.

He said: “I definitely have been told that Paratici has been very influential on Levy, and I’m sure Conte has been as well, in terms of impressing on him: this is how we have to do things now.

“Somebody said to me the other day that Paratici’s the most powerful and ruthless director of football that Levy’s ever appointed. I think he has a lot more power within the club.

“Levy still has a lot of power over transfers, he’s still very much involved on this, but Paratici’s just a bigger figure, I think, inside the club and those guys, and he really has got Levy’s ear on this.”

TIF Thoughts on Pitt-Brooke’s comments…

Paratici’s influence has certainly been seen this summer with Tottenham, uncharacteristically, doing their business early on to provide Conte with his new players ahead of their pre-season efforts.

In years gone by, we have seen Spurs waiting until late on in the window to do their business and often see deals on deadline day fall flat.

However, this summer has felt different. It seems Spurs have gone into the window with a clear plan of what they need to do to give Conte the best opportunity to succeed this season.

Now Spurs have the majority of their business done this summer, it will be interesting to see how Paratici navigates the rest of the window given he has already shown he can get big deals over the line late on in the window.
