Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte was seen on Saturday afternoon roaring in the face of Emerson Royal after bringing the Brazilian off in the latter stages of Spurs’ Premier League opener.
Gameweek one in the Premier League has been ticked off and it is the N17 side who top the table following an impressive victory against the Saints, which has Spurs top on goal difference.
One player who put on a show for Spurs was Emerson, as he completed 86% of his attempted passes, provided two key passes during the game and completed both of his two attempted dribbles (via SofaScore).
And it seems Conte was left massively impressed with the display from Emerson at right wing-back as he hailed the 23-year-old after replacing him in the dying minutes of the game, which Gold spotted.
He said: “When he came off, Conte roared in his face, it was really funny and actually made Emerson crack up, and then Conte.
“I think he was just really happy with him. Because he did a lot in that second half, he launched Spurs on so many counter-attacks.”
TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…
Who would you start at RWB vs Chelsea?
However, the Brazilian’s future has been up in the air in recent weeks, with Matt Doherty, Djed Spence and even Lucas Moura battling it out for the spot at right wing-back.
But with a game against Chelsea coming up on the weekend, it is hard to see how Conte can remove Emerson from his starting XI after what was a really impressive and improved showing from the 23-year-old.
