Tottenham Hotspur will make a move if “the right player comes up” before the end of the transfer window this summer.

That is according to Dean Jones, who was speaking to This is Futbol about Spurs’ transfer plans.

Antonio Conte has already welcomed six players to Hotspur way this summer, but it seems that the club are now focused on getting players off the wage bill.

A report in the Evening Standard has suggested that the Lilywhites’ focus will now be on selling unwanted players before any new additions arrive at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with up to eight players at risk.

And Jones believes Spurs will make a move if a player that suits the club becomes available, though are happy to wait until January if nobody appears.

He said: “They want the replacements for those players to be stronger than the players that are leaving, obviously.

“So that’s probably why this is coming back onto the radar right now.

“We were always told if the right player comes up before the end of the window, they would consider it, but if it doesn’t, then they’ll wait until January.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

We think that Tottenham fans will accept the club’s stance regarding incoming transfers this summer, having already strengthened the team with the aforementioned six new signings.

We also think the supporters will be happy to hear that Fabio Paratici and Daniel Levy seem to have a sensible transfer strategy heading into the final few weeks of the window.

This would suggest that the club are pretty relaxed as the deadline approaches, with the bulk of their business already done. But that they are open to any opportunities that may crop up before 1st September is a sign of a club intent on improving their squad wherever possible as they aim to end their long wait for a major trophy.

Therefore, we think the Spurs faithful will be delighted with the club’s business so far, and hope that the right player pops up before the window’s end.
