Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has already laid down a warning to those high up at the club following his recent comments on dealing with “liars”.
This has been suggested by reliable Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold, who has been talking on his latest YouTube video about the fiery Italian’s recent comments.
Spurs face a difficult trip to Stamford Bridge on Sunday to face Conte’s former side, Chelsea. However, they go into the game off the back of an impressive showing in their season opener against Southampton.
But going into the game against the Saints, Conte spoke to the press from Hotspur Way and discussed his reputation which has built up of not sticking around at clubs for long periods of time.
He said: “I don’t like the people who told me one thing and then during the season after one year or two changed it. If you tell me a good lie, you don’t have a lot of luck with me. I hate lying and liars.”
Conte’s future at Spurs has been under serious question marks in the past, and Gold has suggested these comments are just a mild warning for the likes of Daniel Levy to keep him pleased amid recent talk of potentially signing an extended deal.
Gold said: “I think he’s getting everything he wants right now. I think Spurs have been very open and honest with him. He was told to begin with, there wasn’t really lots of money for that January window. And then for the summer, obviously, they made that money available.
“I think it’s a little warning, as if to say, ‘don’t lie to me, keep honest with me, give me what I want and I’ll be happy’. But I also think there is clearly other clubs he was talking about.”

It does seem as if Spurs have done their best to keep Conte happy this summer, having acted quickly and decisively in the early stages of this summer’s transfer window.

Conte’s history certainly doesn’t suggest he joins clubs with the long term in mind, but we do wonder whether it is now time Conte looks to change that narrative.
The Italian has already laid down warnings for the Spurs board when discussing the ambition needed this summer, and so far, it seems Levy and co have followed up on those comments.
And it does seem as if, for now, Conte is happy with the actions from the board and the direction the club is heading, as he spoke about their project in mind:
“It was very simple to continue this project, because first I have another year of contract and we have just started this project with the club,” he said last month.
It seems very simple to me. Give Conte everything he wants and he will produce the goods. As long as those 2 factors are true he will stay, BUT if one side fails, ie He doesn’t get his own way OR if he doesn’t produce what he promises? Then there is an issue!
I could be wrong however.
Honestly though? Even if we still don’t win anything I would want Conte to stay because if he cant win us something? Nobody can!
