Journalist Alasdair Gold has been left extremely impressed by Dejan Kulusevski’s display in Tottenham Hotspur’s recent win.

This weekend, Spurs began their new Premier League campaign with a comfortable 4-1 in over Southampton. James Ward-Prowse did opener the scoring, but goals from Ryan Sessegnon, Eric Dier, and Kulusevski, on top of an own goal by Mohammed Salisu settled things .

Of all those goalscorers, it seems as though the London club’s Swedish winger was the man who stood out the most. Indeed, Gold couldn’t help but wax lyrical over Kulusevski and his efforts in his player ratings for

The journalist gave him a 9/10 for the performance and wrote: “Grabbed his first assist of the season, cutting inside from the right before launching a perfectly flighted ball for Sessegnon to head home at the far post.

“It was another superb performance from the Swede and he added a customary left-footed curler of a goal to his collection from Emerson’s pull-back.”

Was Dejan Kulusevski the best player for Spurs against Southampton?

TIF thoughts on Dejan Kulusevski and Tottenham Hotspur…

It seems as though the winger’s top display is backed up statistically too. According to SofaScore, Kulusevski managed three key passes, 92 percent passing, and four tackles, as well as claiming a goal and an assist.

Considering the 22-year-old now has nine goals and six assists in his first 19 Premier League games, it’s safe to say he has acclimated to life in England pretty well.

No doubt he would have been delighted to put in ‘another superb performance’ and with plenty of competition for spots in the starting XI at Spurs – following the signing of Richarlison –  Kulusevski has likely done enough to retain his spot next week.
