Journalist Alasdair Gold has claimed that new Tottenham Hotspur signing Clement Lenglet will be an ‘important person’ in the dressing room.
Earlier this summer, Spurs announced that they would be taking the French defender on loan for the season, having agreed a deal with Barcelona.
As the Premier League club are yet to play a competitive game since the centre-back arrived, fans are still waiting to truly form their opinions on his ability and how good he could be this season.
However, Gold has already been able to get a grasp of the player’s personality off the pitch having spoken to him in pre-season, and it seems as though Lenglet could be a good presence behind the scenes at the very least.
Indeed, while talking on his YouTube channel, Gold explained: “Clement Lenglet is a really nice guy, by the way. He’s such a lovely guy. We did an interview with him which is coming out, I think we’re putting that one out on Friday. He’s the classic, ‘Oh I’m so sorry, my English is not very good’, and it was fantastic. He’s going to be an important person in that dressing room, I think.”
TIF Thoughts on Clement Lenglet and Spurs…
At 27 years of age, the defender has won numerous trophies with Barcelona, while also lifting the UEFA Nations League with France.
With that in mind, he certainly should be able to bring a winning mentality as well as plenty of experience to the Tottenham squad.
And judging from Gold’s comments, it seems as though he has a good personality to back all this up. Of course, the fact that Barcelona were willing to loan him out in the first place could lead to some questions over his quality, but the early signs look promising for now.
