It has been claimed that Nottingham Forest are unlikely to sign Said Benrahma, despite reports to the contrary.

In a recent article by The Guardian, it was claimed that West Ham United want to sell the Algerian in order to improve their own options in attack.

In the same report, Forest were said to have shown an interest in signing Benrahma as they look to build their squad following promotion to the Premier League.

Despite all this talk, Hammers transfer expert ExWHUemployee has claimed that he doesn’t think the winger will leave the club unless Forest would be willing to make a bid in the region of £25m.

Talking on The West Ham Way podcast, he explained: “There’s also talk that Benrahma could go and that Nottingham Forest and a few other clubs are interested in him.

“I don’t think he will go yet, unless we [West Ham] receive the £25m that’s reported and we have other players lined up.”

TIF Thoughts on Said Benrahma and Nottingham Forest

After an initial loan, West Ham signed Benrahma from Brentford for a £25m fee. And so it seems as though the Hammers want to recoup all of that in order to let him go.

However, since joining the club, he has hardly set the world on fire. Indeed, in 81 appearances for the Irons, the 26-year-old has just 12 goals and 13 assists.

With that in mind, Forest might not be so keen to pay such a high sum for the winger – especially when they have Jesse Lingard’s high wages to worry about. And so, it’s easy to see why Ex feels as though Forest won’t quite get this deal over the line.
