Chris Hamill, content creator for Sky Sports, has been left buzzing by the news that Nottingham Forest are weighing up a move for Remo Freuler.

Ahead of Forest’s first Premier League game in 23 years it cannot be said that Evangelos Marinakis hasn’t delivered on his promise to manager Steve Cooper.

The owner of the club said that Forest ‘belong’ in the top flight and that he would back his coach to the hilt.

He certainly has done just that with 12 new players brought in to bolster the squad and it seems as if the east Midlands outfit won’t stop there.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has claimed the club are still looking at a left-back despite Harry Toffolo’s arrival while Atalanta centre-midfielder Freuler is on ‘the list’.

Romano’s update prompted an excited response from Hamill who took to Twitter to post his thoughts on a move:

Indeed, manager, Gian Piero Gasperini has enjoyed a tremendous spell of the Bergamo club with three consecutive third-place finishes followed by a dip to 8th last term but he did bring Champions League football to the club for the first time and Freuler has been a key cog in the wheel as Hamill alluded to.

The 46-cap ace has been at the club for the duration of Gasperini’s six-year tenure to date playing 259 times for the club averaging 6.88 or higher in every season at the club (SofaScore).

He led the side for accurate passes for game with 50.7 at a success rate of 87% almost double that of James Garner at the City Ground last season and could well fill the Manchester United man’s void.
