Jordan Cronin has been speaking on the Loaded Mag YouTube channel about how Goncalo Ramos fits the bill for Newcastle United.

After a fair few struggles in the transfer market it appears that Eddie Howe and Newcastle have settled on how their next target in the transfer market is going to be with the Magpies said to be preparing a proposal for Ramos, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Newcastle will be very familiar with Ramos besides the scouting that would have gone into him as he netted the opening goal against the Magpies during their pre-season defeat to Benfica earlier this summer.

Cronin believes that Ramos fits the mould in Newcastle’s striker search being young and able to play across the front line.

(29:15) “As I say just from what I’ve heard is that he’s obviously a player that fits exactly what Newcastle are looking for in terms of a young attacking player so it’s just one to watch and just wait and see what happens with that.”

Will Newcastle end up signing Ramos?

TIF Thoughts on links to Ramos…

It appears pretty obvious that Howe is not looking for a proven goal scorer to come in and lead the line for Newcastle, putting a lot of faith in Callum Wilson to do that job, instead he wants someone younger who can perhaps be an understudy and play in multiple positions.

This is because they tried for months to land now Paris Saint-Germain ace Hugo Ekitike, who would have fit the mould, and now they are launching a move for 21-year-old Ramos, although his goal-scoring record last season left a lot to be desired.

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

The attacker managed just eight goals in 46 appearances across all competitions, although in the Champions League he took his goal well against Liverpool and has started this season on fire with six goal involvements in just three games, so he may be coming of age now that he’s got a full season of experience under this belt.
