Journalist Dean Jones has claimed on the Chasing Green Arrows YouTube channel that Newcastle United will sign at least one right-winger and one striker this summer.

Newcastle have long been locked in talks and discussions over several different attacking players such as James Maddison, Lucas Paqueta and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, with none of them proving to be attainable as of yet.

However, there does appear a willingness from within Newcastle to add some attacking firepower, which is evidently needed as during their win last weekend it took two stunning goals from Fabian Schar and Callum Wilson to pick up all three points against Nottingham Forest despite having 26 shots.

Jones believes that at least two attacking players will arrive on Tyneside before the end of the summer transfer window.

Will Newcastle sign Paqueta this summer?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

He said: “They haven’t got anyone, that is the big spot for them to be filled – the right side of attack and a centre-forward. They’re still going to sign players in both of those positions before the month is out, Newcastle, and James Maddison they like for that right-hand slot.”

TIF Thoughts on Newcastle’s business…

It is very hard to envisage PIF allowing Eddie Howe and his Newcastle side to go until at least January with just Callum Wilson and Chris Wood as options up front, as well as only having Miguel Almiron, Jacob Murphy and Ryan Fraser as options on the right-hand side.

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

Reports have recently emerged that they are eyeing up moves for Bamba Dieng and long-term target Lucas Paqueta for a combined total of £50m, which would likely fit into their budget and help improve the right side as well as the void left by Jonjo Shelvey, who has undergone surgery.
