Newcastle United could have Strasbourg striker Ludovic Ajorque “on their radar” this summer.

That is according to Pete O’Rourke, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the Magpies’ potential transfer business, heading into the final few weeks of the transfer window.

According to MailOnline, a number of Premier League clubs including Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in a move for Ajorque this summer, whilst a number of Bundesliga clubs are also interested in making a move for the 6 foot 6 28-year-old.

The same report suggests that the French club are willing to sell the Saint-Denis born striker for a fee of around £18m this summer.

And O’Rourke believes that Newcastle will also be one of the clubs interested in securing the services of the Frenchman this season.

“Yeah obviously, Ajorque at Strasbourg has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs.

“I’m sure Newcastle have him on their radar as well, we’ve just mentioned how well they are versed in Ligue 1, looking at transfer targets.

“So, I’m sure he’s emerged from that as well.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments

We believe that Ajorque would be an excellent addition for Newcastle, with it being no secret that Eddie Howe would like to add another striker to his squad this season.

After having scored 12 goals in Ligue 1 last season, the Strasbourg star striker was rated as the club’s third best performing player in the French top-flight by SofaScore last season, achieving an average rating of 7.10.

Therefore, we believe the ‘beast’ would be a solid signing at just £18m for the Magpies this summer, with the striker showing last season that he was able to perform to a decent standard, even in a struggling team.
