Journalist Dean Jones thinks Alexander Isak could make his first start for Newcastle United this week.
A tricky fixture away against Liverpool is up next in the Premier League for the Magpies as they look to continue their unbeaten start to the new season.
Much of the focus, no doubt, will be on new club-record £63m signing Isak – who just arrived from Real Sociedad and is yet to feature for Newcastle.
While speaking about the player on the Chasing Green Arrows YouTube channel, Jones claimed that Isak is fit and should be in contention to play from the off.
He said: “He’s fit, so I presume he’ll play a part. I mean, it would be a big place to throw him into the frame at Anfield.
“But maybe he’ll thrive on that, maybe that’s what he wants. Got an extra day [of training], so yeah, there’s more than a possibility that he would start that game.”

Having spent so much money on the striker – who scored 44 goals and provided eight assists during his time in Spain – it’s easy to see why Eddie Howe may be tempted to throw him in against Liverpool.
On top of that, Callum Wilson looks set for a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, so the Newcastle boss essentially has two men to pick from in either Chris Wood or Isak.
Wood made a first start of the season against Wolves but failed to score – and has yet to in any other appearance this term. With that in mind, Isak may well be the man trusted for the big occasion.
