Journalist Jacque Talbot has reacted on Twitter to news that Newcastle United target Youri Tielemans has been the subject of a late-window bid from a ‘mystery club’.

It appears clear that Newcastle are indeed looking to bolster their midfield department before Thursday’s transfer deadline, which may be down to the fact star players Jonjo Shelvey and Bruno Guimaraes are currently in the treatment room.

There have been links to the likes of Ainsley Maitland-Niles – who can play centrally – Amadou Haidara from RB Leipzig and also Premier League-proven Tielemans, who is said to be available for around £30m.

Reporter Pete O’Rourke has recently claimed that a ‘mystery club’ have made a late £19m bid for Tielemans – something that Talbot believes has Newcastle ‘written all over it’.

Will Newcastle sign Tielemans?

Yes!

No!

No!

Guessing the identity of the unknown bidder, he wrote on Twitter: “Bidding below the market value, has Newcastle written all over it.”

TIF Thoughts on Newcastle’s interest in Tielemans…

Ben Jacobs has recently claimed that Leicester are anticipating plenty of clubs making late moves for Tielemans before Thursday’s 11pm deadline, but it remains to be seen whether or not Newcastle will be one of those clubs.

Given how much Newcastle have already spent this summer, any more expensive deals seem unlikely, but if they could bring in Tielemans for less than £30m, it would surely be seen as a bargain given his age, ability, experience and pedigree within the game.

However, with clubs such as Arsenal said to hold a long-standing interest in the midfielder, it may be difficult to compete, given the Gunners can offer Tielemans European football – something he is said to want.
