Newcastle United hold an interest in Moroccan winger Hakim Ziyech, who could be headed for the exit doors at Stamford Bridge.

This has been suggested by journalist Ben Jacobs, who has been speaking about the future of the 29-year-old on the latest edition of The Done Deal Show.

Reports have recently suggested Ziyech could be the next player to leave Chelsea this summer, with Milan and Manchester United said to be interested.

Having joined the Blues back in 2020 from Ajax in a deal believed to be worth around £36m, he could now be allowed to depart for as little as around £8m.

And Jacobs now believes there could be another club that may be able to offer Ziyech a new home as Eddie Howe looks to improve his attacking options.

He said: “I know that Newcastle United like the player as well, and that’s one to watch even though they’ve actually been more linked with Timo Werner, who I think will want, and is pushing for, that loan move back to Leipzig.”

TIF Thoughts on Jacobs’ comments…

This would certainly be an interesting addition if the Toon were able to land the Moroccan given his surplus of Champions League experience across his time at Ajax and Chelsea.

Would you want Ziyech at Newcastle?

No

However, Ziyech’s returns have not exactly been massively impressive, with just six goals in his 46 Premier League appearances – albeit through irregular game time (via Transfermarkt).

And even if Newcastle are convinced Ziyech is the man they need, would he turn down a move to the Serie A champions or a reunion with former manager Erik ten Hag for Newcastle? We think that is unlikely.
