Newcastle United have an interest in Christian Pulisic this summer and an approach has been made to his representatives.
This is according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who has been speaking on the Que Golazo YouTube channel to discuss the latest transfer news.
There is now only around two weeks remaining in this summer’s window and Eddie Howe is yet to see a new attacking player come through the doors at St James’ Park.
Howe is clearly still hoping to see some attacking reinforcements come in, with a new striker and right-winger believed to be on the agenda.
And Romano believes the American – who scored six league goals in 22 appearances last season – is a player who the Tyneside club have on their list of potential targets.
He said: “There is an interest [for a] long time from Newcastle. They already approached people close to Pulisic in June, but at the moment, from Chelsea, there is no decision made on him.
“Also because they can’t sell all their players, because Timo Werner, Romelu Lukaku, I think [Callum] Hudson-Odoi’s going to leave the club also in the next days with many, many clubs interested in him.
“So before selling or loaning out all the players, they need to find some solution internally or new signings, and so this is why at the moment for Pulisic, there is still nothing imminent. A lot of interest, but nothing imminent. And I wouldn’t be surprised if at the end, he stays at Chelsea this season.”
TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…
We are interested to see if this is something which could materialise in the coming weeks, as Chelsea are reportedly looking to add another winger to their options with Everton’s Anthony Gordon.
Would you want Pulisic at NUFC?
Yes
No
Romano did claim he can see Pulisic remaining at Stamford Bridge this summer, however, his father has made it apparent he is not 100% happy at present with the west Londoners.
And given his start to the new campaign has not suggested he is in Tuchel’s immediate plans – having played just 31 minutes for the Blues – it’ll be interesting to see if he looks to force an exit ahead of the World Cup.
