According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Newcastle United could still be in for Armando Broja this summer on a loan as his current club look to bring in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, which could force the Albanian to look for the move.

Newcastle are still looking to bring in another attacker to aid current star man Callum Wilson this season, and while they have failed with the likes of Moussa Diaby and Hugo Ekitike, they could still find their solution a little closer to home.

The club have already looked to sign Broja from Chelsea this summer, and while he has said he has no interest in another loan, Jacobs believes the possible arrival of Aubameyang could cause a U-turn in Broja’s decision.

Jacobs told NUFC Matters: “Broja is a possibility. The roadblock there is not at the club’s side, it’s actually the player himself. He’s said very clearly earlier in the window that he either wants to move permanently – hence why he pushed for the West Ham move a few weeks back – or he wants to be integral at Chelsea.

“But now he sees where Chelsea are heading, and if Aubameyang arrives, he might now U-turn on that position and be persuaded to go out on loan. Chelsea would send him out on loan, I think, tomorrow, providing they get in another striker. So if Aubameyang joins, that becomes quite likely.”

TIF Thoughts on Broja to Newcastle…

While it is understandable that Broja’s priority is to either establish himself as an important figure for Chelsea or look for a permanent move away, a loan move to a club like Newcastle could be a great move for the youngster.

He is guaranteed to get a lot of game time as Wilson has shown himself to be injury-prone in recent seasons, and if he impresses, there is no reason why Newcastle and their improved resources could not look to make a deal permanent.

We have already seen that Broja, who has been hailed as ‘top-class’, can score in the Premier League, bagging nine in all competitions for Southampton last season. And playing at Newcastle, who arguably have better attacking players than the Saints, could see his tally rise further this term if they were to sign him.
