Fabrizio Romano has claimed on his YouTube channel that Marko Arnautovic would push for a move to Manchester United.

It was a disastrous opening weekend for United, who tasted defeat at Old Trafford under the watchful eye of Erik ten Hag, who has got off to the worst possible start as Red Devils boss.

Things then appeared to take another potential turn for the worse as it emerged they had seen a bid knocked back by Bologna for 33-year-old Arnautovic, who would likely arrive as a backup to the ageing Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, Romano believes that the Austrian striker would try and push through a move to Old Trafford.

He said: “Marko Arnautovic, the Bologna striker is one of the possibilities. It would be a return for him in the Premier League after the experience at West Ham a few years ago.

Would Arnautovic be a good signing for MUFC?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“Now, Bologna insist they don’t want to sell Arnautovic because he’s a really important player for them, but on Arnautovic’s side, the player is ready to push and push again to join Manchester United in case they will reach an agreement with Bologna.

“So Arnautovic would dream of Man United, he would push for the move, but at the moment, still no agreement between Bologna and Manchester United.”

TIF Thoughts on Man United’s pursuit of Arnautovic…

It is certainly a left-field option that has emerged for Man United, especially when they already have a striker in his late thirties in the form of Ronaldo, however, it would be a low-cost move for the Red Devils which may well appeal to them.

This move would also see Erik ten Hag provided with a player who’s a proven goalscorer in the Premier League, as Arnautovic boasts a record of 80 goal involvements in 184 Premier League games, while it may also allow them to put more money into their pursuit of Frenkie de Jong, although this hardly seems like a signing that is likely to drastically change their fortunes.
