According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are considering a potential move for Juventus starlet Weston McKennie this summer as the club look to bolster their midfield options before the end of the window.

After seemingly missing out on top summer target Frenkie de Jong, the Red Devils are continuing their search for a new midfielder to help Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen before the window closes in the coming weeks.

While they have been linked with the likes of Adrien Rabiot and Casemiro, Romano has suggested the club are discussing the possibility of moving for Juventus ace McKennie, who has impressed during his time in Serie A.

Romano said: “Another option that internally Manchester United are considering is Weston McKennie of Juventus, one of the players that they’ve been following. Not a priority right now, but one of the names they know could be available on the market in the next days.”

TIF Thoughts on McKennie to United…

We think the versatile midfielder would be a great coup for the Red Devils, as he can play in a multitude of positions in midfield, including central, attacking, defensive, left, and right if needed, as he did last season for the Old Lady.

In these appearances – 29 across all competitions – the United States international picked up four goals, and over the last 365 days, he ranked in the 98th percentile for progressive passes received, in the 97th for touches in the attacking penalty area, and in the 93rd for non-penalty expected goals, compared to other midfielders in Europe’s top five leagues (as per FBref).

It is currently unknown how much it will cost to prise the American away from the Italian giants, but considering his age and experience in a top league and the Champions League, he could develop into a wonderful player who could help take United to the next level.
