Manchester United are now expected to make a strong push for the Ajax winger Antony ahead of next week’s transfer deadline.
This is what Fabrizio Romano has suggested when speaking on his Here We Go podcast, with Erik ten Hag’s side heavily linked with the Brazilian.
Antony was not included in Ajax’s squad for their previous outing against Sparta Rotterdam at the weekend and was even pictured with his agent watching United’s victory over Liverpool.
It is believed the Dutch side have already knocked back a seismic bid of around £67m from the Premier League giants, but the player remains insistent on the move to Old Trafford.
And Romano now thinks the Eredivisie champions are expecting another push from United in the coming days to try and land the 22-year-old before the window closes.
He said: “So Antony sent a clear message again today [Tuesday] and yesterday he wants to go to Manchester United. Waiting for a new improved bid.
“So the feeling around Ajax is that soon Man United will improve their proposal because the last one €80m was turned down last week, but as mentioned, Antony wants Manchester United.”

This will certainly be a big boost to the United fans who have seen their side make a turbulent start to the new campaign with last season’s top goalscorer, Cristiano Ronaldo, play a minimal role in the opening three games.

There are still question marks over the Portuguese star’s future at Old Trafford and although Antony may not play as a striker, adding goals to Ten Hag’s frontline will be key if they are to lose Ronaldo.
United showed signs of improvement on Monday night against Liverpool but adding Antony’s 22 goal involvements from last season would surely be a big boost with Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford yet to show consistent form over the last year.
