Journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Antony wants to join Manchester United before the transfer window ends.

United have had Antony on their radar throughout the transfer window, and they have reportedly now made the Brazilian their priority signing after recently landing Casemiro from Real Madrid on a five-year deal.

Antony featured 33 times in all competitions for Ajax last season, and he chipped in with an impressive 22 goal contributions, which is why Erik ten Hag is keen to reunite with him at Old Trafford this season.

With Antony being heavily linked with a move to United, Romano claimed that the player is really pushing for the move and he has not been present in training due to him attempting to get the deal over the line

“I am told that the player wants to go, the player wants Manchester United move, he is really pushing for this move, this is why he was not training with the team on Friday, but just at the training ground in the gym,” Romano said.

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

Manchester United have gotten off to the worst start possible after losing both their opening games of the season against Brighton & Hove Albion and then a 4-0 thrashing against Brentford, so Ten Hag might be keen to force the move for Antony over line imminently in hope that he can help change their poor form.

With an agreement in place to sign Casemiro, it now seems as if the Red Devils have realised the new manager needs further additions added to his squad, however, it could result in an expensive end of the window.

United have now spent over £128 million in this summer transfer window, and with the Dutch side rejecting a bid of 80million Euros for Antony, the Red Devils will have to fork out to bring in the tricky winger.
