Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva is ‘open’ to discussing a move to Barcelona this summer.
Silva played an integral part in Manchester City’s Premier League title win last season – playing 35 times and scoring eight goals, as well as assisting a further four. Given his impact on the side, manager Pep Guardiola will surely be keen to keep hold of the midfielder this summer, especially after losing Raheem Sterling to Chelsea.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “I am told that he will be open to discuss with Barcelona, but Man City will do their best to keep Bernardo at the club.”
From Barcelona’s perspective, they’ve shown all summer long that, despite their difficult financial situation, they are not afraid to splash the cash, welcoming a total of five new players for a combined fee of £137.7 million.
When it comes to Silva, however, they may need to wait and see if Frenkie de Jong does end up departing this summer. before being able to pursue the Portugal star, according to Romano, who said: “For Barca, it’s really important to sell Frenkie de Jong if they want to afford Bernardo Silva.”

There is no doubting Silva’s importance to Man City, with his aforementioned goal contributions proving key on many occasions. And after losing Sterling and Gabriel Jesus this summer, Guardiola will surely be keen to avoid another offensive blow.
As the start of the Premier League season approaches and Silva still donning the sky blue of the Citizens, the champions will want to get off to a quick start and give themselves the best chance of retaining their title this season.
But with a month left until the transfer deadline, the future of Silva remains in question.
