Joe Wainman has taken to Twitter amidst recent Cody Gakpo reports, urging Leeds United to make a move.

Leeds acted quickly and smartly in the transfer window by getting the majority of their business done early on which has allowed them to settle in, and helped the Whites make a decent start to the season.

Someone that was linked earlier in the summer is Gakpo, and given that PSV are now holding out for just £25m – a lot less than the reported £40m price tag – there could be a bargain to be had for Leeds.

However, with Southampton now said to have had a bid rejected according to Sky Sports, Wainman wants Leeds to make their move for the Dutch winger.

He wrote: “I mean, I can’t lie. This seems like a no-brainer at that price. Come on, Leeds.”

Should Leeds pay £25m for Gakpo?

TIF Thoughts on Leeds’ interest in Gakpo…

It would appear that Leeds have money in the bank to make a big signing if required given they were willing to splash out on Charles De Ketelaere, so bringing in Gakpo may not be totally out of the question.

However, David Ornstein has recently claimed on The Athletic’s Football Podcast that there is now no money left to make more signings this summer, which will come as a huge blow – especially if Gakpo ends up at a rival Premier League club. Therefore, it seems unlikely they will reignite their interest in the Dutchman.

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

Gakpo was said to be of interest to Manchester United earlier in the summer, and it’s no surprise why they Wainman are fans, given he registered 24 goal involvements last season – and at just 23, he can surely get better.
