With Leeds United being linked with a potential swoop for Borussia Dortmund left-back Raphael Guerreiro, YouTuber Joe Wainman has been left stunned by the reports.

The Leeds content creator has been speaking over on his YouTube channel amid the final two weeks of this summer’s transfer window.

According to journalist Dean Jones, there have been rumblings around Thorp Arch of potential interest in the Portuguese defender: “Raphael Guerreiro’s a name I’ve heard mentioned. There are a few that they’re looking at,” he told GiveMeSport.

This comes amid Jesse Marsch’s injury issues at left-back, with Junior Firpo currently sidelined for around another month after picking up an injury during one of the Whites’ pre-season friendlies.

And Wainman has been blown away by the links to the Dortmund left-back given the wealth of high-level experience he would arrive with at Elland Road.

He said: “Look, if we could secure Raphael Guerreiro to come in, he improves us astronomically, for me – especially from that full-back area, especially in terms of attacking output.

“What he would give us going forward would be amazing. And as I say, if Manchester City and Pep Guardiola were sniffing at him as a potential instead of a [Marc] Cucruella, then that shows you just how well-thought-of he is in the game.

“I’m still dubious over whether Leeds United will do any business, but if they were, then this would be a perfect signing, for me, to come in and replace Firpo. Forget about supporting him – replace Firpo.”

TIF Thoughts on Wainman’s comments…

This really would feel like a big addition to Marsch’s side, even if it was just on a season-long loan deal, with the Portuguese star having 343 club appearances to his name.

Does Firpo need upgrading?

No

And he has shown his worth in the Bundesliga, having proven a useful outlet in attack for Dortmund with 55 goal involvements in the German top flight alone.

Not only do we think Leeds would be improving their squad with Firpo out injured, but we also think Guerreiro could prove to be a major upgrade on the 25-year-old, who has only provided two assists since joining the Whites last summer.
