Journalist and YouTuber Conor McGilligan expressed his excitement after Leeds United were linked with a summer transfer for Che Adams.

According to a recent report in The Sun, the Whites are lining up a ‘surprise’ move for the striker. The report states that they are hoping to pay a fee in the region of £10m for the 26-year-old.

It explains that the Southampton man is seen as a good option to provide depth to the Leeds attack, with the Premier League outfit having just missed out on Charles De Ketelaere – who looks set to join Milan.

While speaking about the possible deal on the One Leeds Fan Channel, McGilligan seemed all in for it as he referred to the player as ‘fantastic’.

He said: “Leeds pushing that Che Adams agenda. I think he’s a very good player, I think he fits the system, he’s been playing in a Red Bull system under Ralph Hasenhuttl now for the best part of three years. He’s still young.

“Every time that I watch Che Adams play, he’s fantastic for Scotland, he’s unbelievable.

“So I just think there’s a lot to take into consideration, here. A striker isn’t just about goals, it’s about the overall perspective, it’s about bringing others into play.”

TIF Thoughts on Che Adams and Leeds…

It is interesting to hear McGilligan say that being a striker isn’t all about goals, as that certainly is the case with Adams. Indeed, he has never reached double figures in a Premier League season, with his highest tally of nine coming in 2020/21.

However, he has shown the ability to provide assists for teammates throughout his career and has done enough to become an established player for his country.

All in all, his goalscoring record alone might not be enough to have all Leeds fans excited, but it’s easy to see why McGilligan is happy to highlight the other qualities Adams has that could make him a good fit for Jesse Marsch.

And if they can land him for a figure in the region of just £10m, it might not be a bad deal at all.
