Phil Hay has cooled talk of Mateusz Klich potentially leaving Leeds United this summer on loan.

There had been talk earlier this summer about Klich potentially heading back to the Netherlands with FC Utrecht where he’s previously spent a season out on loan back during the early years of his Leeds United career.

Talk may have only intensified last Saturday when the Leeds team news dropped and Klich was only afforded a spot on the bench by Jesse Marsch, however, according to Hay, Klich’s cameo appearance off the bench has helped change people’s opinions of him within the club.

Hay, who has been speaking on The Phil Hay Show, has cooled any talk of a potential Klich departure.

“There is definitely that risk [leaving Leeds] I think he would have a pretty broad choice of clubs that are plenty out there who would like Klich and see ways in which they could make him fit.

Does Klich have a future at Leeds?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“Utrecht in Holland being linked again, the word from their end is that there’s nothing concrete doing at the moment and actually, as this week has gone on, noises have been more and more that actually Leeds will be inclined to keep him, provided that everybody’s happy and it is going to suit.”

TIF Thoughts on Klich’s future…

Klich has been a regular in the Leeds sides for the last few years so it will be a major shock to his system to no longer be someone that is a regular starter with the leaks of Marc Roca and Tyler Adams regarded as higher-up the pecking order given they started last weekend.

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

However, it is a testament to both Marsch and Klich’s characters if they are able to realise that the midfielder is of use and shouldn’t be just shunned away because of some new arrivals and that Klich himself was willing to grasp his chance, even if it was only 26 minutes, and prove why he should still be a valuable member of the squad.
