YouTuber Joe Wainman has claimed that he is a big fan of Mateusz Klich and does not want him to leave Leeds United.

Leeds midfielder Klich has been linked with an exit from Elland Road this summer, with new additions Marc Roca and Tyler Adams occupying his position, while the new duo were both awarded with starts in the Whites’ opening Premier League fixture on Saturday.

Klich has been a mainstay in the Leeds side over the last three seasons as he has missed just nine league games in this period of time, but this season might see his game time reduced due to Jesse Marsch’s new additions.

Despite missing out on a start in the opening fixture of the season, Wainman spoke on the JustJoe Football Show on YouTube and claimed that he wants Klich to remain at the club due to everything that he has done for the club.

He said: “I don’t want [Klich leaving] to happen. Let me put that on record – now, you know I am a big fan of Klich, anyway. When I thought he was going, I said I’m gutted because, for me, he was one of the real pole-bearers of that Bielsa era.”

TIF Thoughts on Wainman’s comments…

Klich could see himself spending large periods of this season on the bench and featuring in minimal games, as the exit of Kalvin Phillips from the club freed up some funds that Marsch has reinvested in the midfield.

Although Wainman has claimed that he does not want Klich to leave for sentimental reasons, the Polish midfielder might want to move on and join a club where he is going to be playing regular first-team football, and reports suggest that he is keen to force a move away in order to find this, which is understandable with the World Cup on the horizon.

Either way, barring a dramatic turnaround in fortunes, it does seem that Klich’s time at the club is nearing its end.
