Leeds United will be keeping tabs on Rennes forward Martin Terrier’s situation at the Ligue 1 club this summer.

That is according to journalist Pete O’Rourke, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the Whites’ potential transfer business, heading into the final few weeks of the transfer window.

Leeds have been linked with a number of forwards throughout the transfer window, including Paris Saint-Germain’s Arnaud Kalimuendo (who eventually signed for Rennes) whilst the club are currently exploring a potential move for Southampton and Scotland striker Ché Adams, though Everton are thought to have an interest in the striker.

Jesse Marsch’s side have also been linked with a move for Terrier this summer, with The Athletic’s Phil Hay suggesting that the forward would cost the club in excess of £30m this summer.

And O’Rourke believes that the Elland Road side will be monitoring what happens with the 25-year-old, who has previously been dubbed as a “high-level” player by Bruno Genesio.

“Still an area the team that Leeds are looking to strengthen, to improve their attacking options because of the problems they had last year with Patrick Bamford’s injury and they’ve missed out on a few other targets.

“So yeah, I’m sure they would be keeping tabs on Terrier’s situation and if his price tag has come down, that will boost their hopes of maybe being able to afford a deal and bring him to Elland Road.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments

Interestingly, Martin Terrier is ranked as the most similar player to Sadio Mane, according to FBref.

We believe that Leeds’ striker situation (the club’s only senior striker is Patrick Bamford) means that they have no choice but to be putting all their efforts into recruiting another forward this summer.

And in the former France U21 international, they’d be signing someone who definitely knows where the back of the net is, as shown by the fact he scored 21 goals and provided four assists in 37 Ligue 1 appearances last season, according to Transfermarkt.

With this goalscoring record, we believe that Victor Orta should be preparing to spend over £30m on providing Marsch with a forward who could fire Leeds to comfortable safety this season, if he was to replicate his Ligue 1 form in the Premier League.

We desperately need a seasoned striker, great result today, no one to hold the ball up today, lets sign him before numerous other teams start offering silly money!
