Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that Ben Brereton Diaz has been looked at by Leeds United this summer.
Leeds are currently in a difficult situation regarding their attacking options, as Patrick Bamford picked up an injury in the second game of the season, which has meant that Jesse Marsch has been without a fit senior striker, with Joe Gelhardt only just working his way back into the side.
Ben Brereton Diaz was in fine form last season for Blackburn Rovers, finding the back of the net 22 times in 37 Championship appearances, and he now has just one year remaining on his current contract.
Despite Leeds being short in attacking options, Jacobs spoke to GiveMeSport and claimed that Brereton Diaz, who is wanted by Orta at Leeds, is not heading any further in terms of a move to Elland Road.
He said: “I don’t think there’s too much in that at the moment. Obviously, he’s got good numbers in the Championship for Blackburn and a relatively high price tag. But there are one or two concerns about whether he’s going to translate those numbers to the Premier League. For me, that’s not heading anywhere at the moment, despite the fact that he’s a name that Leeds have looked at.”

TIF Thoughts on Jacobs’ comments…
Although Leeds have been without Bamford from the 28th minute in their second fixture, they have had an impressive start to the 2022/23 Premier League season, picking up an impressive seven points from a possible nine.
Sky Sports News has reported Brereton Diaz is not interested in signing a new deal with Blackburn, and with him having just one year remaining on his contract, Rovers might be keen to cash in on him this summer.
However, Leeds might be thinking that they could either go back in for him in January at a reduced price or even attempt to sign him next summer when he will be available on a free transfer rather than spending big on him this summer.
