Leeds United are unlikely to sign both Martin Terrier and Arnaud Kalimuendo this summer, but Jesse Marsch does want another striker.

That is according to journalist Pete O’Rourke, who was speaking to This is Futbol about Leeds’ potential transfer business this summer.

According to TEAMtalk contributor Graeme Bailey, a £21m deal in principle has been ‘agreed’ between Leeds and Paris Saint-Germain for the transfer of Arnaud Kalimuendo this summer.

This will come as a positive update to manager Jesse Marsch, who will be desperate for senior striking cover for Patrick Bamford this season.

Meanwhile, the Whites remain interested in Rennes forward Martin Terrier, but according to The Athletic’s Leeds correspondent Phil Hay, the Ligue 1 club would only consider offers around the £30m mark, which may price Leeds out of a move.

And O’Rourke believes that whilst the club are interested in both forwards, they would likely be unable to sign both players this summer amid their current lack of options.

He said: “I don’t think they could sign both.

“Obviously, they’ve had a busy transfer window with ins and outs, with Raphinha and Phillips both leaving for big money and then obviously they’ve made a number of signings themselves.

“I think Jesse Marsch does want to bring in one more attacking signing, a forward – and Terrier and Kalimuendo are two highly rated players in France. They have had good seasons over there as well.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…

We believe that Leeds fans will accept that the club would not be willing to spend over £50m on two forwards, with neither guaranteed to be an immediate starter in Marsch’s lineup this season.

Both players had impressive campaigns in France last term, with Kalimuendo scoring 13 goals in 35 appearances whilst on loan at RC Lens, whilst Terrier scored 21 goals and provided seven assists in 46 appearances according to Transfermarkt.

Therefore, we believe that either forward would add a positive dynamic to the Leeds squad this season provided they can replicate last season’s performances in the Premier League, and the club should focus on getting a move for one of these players over the line as soon as possible.
