Leeds United are looking at the potential of signing Paris Saint-Germain’s Arnaud Kalimuendo and Rennes’ Martin Terrier this summer, with the club looking to bolster their striking options.

That is according to Tim Thornton of Sky Sports, who was speaking to GiveMeSport about the Whites’ potential transfer business for the remainder of the summer window.

Jesse Marsch is desperate for some senior cover for Patrick Bamford up front this season and Leeds were linked with a move for Kalimuendo in July.

It is now being reported by French outlet Media Foot that the Whites have made a €20m (£16.8m) bid for the 20-year-old, and it is believed that the minimum fee PSG would accept is somewhere between €20-25m (£16.8-21m).

Meanwhile, Terrier is another Ligue 1 forward who the Premier League side have expressed an interest in this summer, though The Athletic’s Leeds correspondent Phil Hay believes he could cost in excess of £30m.

Discussing both players, Thornton believes that the duo are on the club’s radar, but actually getting a deal over the line is a different matter.

He said: “They’ve got a number of options; you’ve mentioned two of them there.

“And they’re both players that will be on Leeds’ radar, but it’s whether they can get deals done, whether they’re prepared to go to the figures that they need to go to, to get those players. And whether they can beat off competition as well.”

TIF Thoughts on Thornton’s comments…

We believe that whilst Leeds fans are likely to be delighted that they are in the hunt for another striker, there could be some concern as to whether the club can actually get one of these deals over the line.

Both players enjoyed impressive goalscoring campaigns last season, with Kalimuendo notching 13 goals in 38 appearances across spells at PSG and RC Lens, whilst Terrier managed to find the back of the net 21 times and provide seven assists in 46 appearances. This made their goal conversion rates 19% and 24% respectively, which is lethal compared to Bamford’s 10%.

We think that both players would represent fantastic additions to Marsch’s side this season and that the club should be looking to get a deal over the line for one of them as quickly as possible.
