Leeds United are the latest Premier League club to join the race to sign Armando Broja this summer.

That is according to Dean Jones, who was speaking to GiveMeSport about the Whites’ potential transfer business heading into the final few weeks of the transfer window.

Jesse Marsch will be desperate for the club to sign another striker before the 1st September deadline, with Patrick Bamford being the only experienced number nine in the senior squad at the time of writing, while both he and Joe Gelhardt are nursing injuries at present.

The club looked destined to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Arnaud Kalimuendo, but the France U21 striker moved to Ligue 1 side Rennes instead, whilst Southampton and Scotland striker Ché Adams has also been linked with a move to Elland Road this summer.

And Jones believes that Broja, who is also being courted by Nottingham Forest, is another striker Victor Orta could be looking to bring to the club this summer.

He said: “Armando Broja, they’ve also got him on their radar now.

“They just haven’t had the openings that they wanted when they’ve made enquiries about players as basically a backup for Patrick Bamford.

“Part of that will be that some players just don’t want to be a backup, part of it is that clubs haven’t been willing to do business.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

We think that Broja, who has been hailed as a ‘standout’ player, would be an excellent signing for Leeds this summer, and there’s an argument to suggest that there’d be a chance that he could be Marsch’s first-choice striker if he hit the ground running at Elland Road.

The 20-year-old, who was hailed as “very talented” by his former boss Frank Lampard, spent last season on loan at fellow Premier League side Southampton, scoring six league goals and providing one assist in 32 appearances, according to Transfermarkt.

Whilst Leeds fans would want that goal record to increase to double figures should he sign for the Elland Road club, we believe that Broja would represent a fantastic signing for the Whites this season, and if they could secure a loan deal with an option to buy, they may have a gem on their hands.

Broja is no doubt a quality player but realistically Leeds will not be paying the outrageous amount of money that chelsea will demand.
