Phil Hay has admitted that he doesn’t expect to see Luis Sinisterra start for Leeds United on Saturday.
The Colombian winger was seen as the replacement Leeds United were after when they sold Raphinha for big money earlier in the summer, however, a hamstring injury in pre-season has seen him have to bide his time and wait for first-team minutes.
He was able to make his first team debut on Wednesday evening as Leeds recorded a comfortable 3-1 win against Barnsley in the Carabao Cup in which he scored one goal, won a penalty and crossed the ball which led to the third goal.
Despite his good showing at Elland Road, Hay has admitted on The Phil Hay Show that he can’t see him starting vs Brighton.
(14:48) “So the bigger question for Sinisterra, I don’t think he’ll start at Brighton at the weekend, but if he gets a good run against Brighton or if something happens that means he does have to start what happens in that game?
Will Leeds beat Brighton?
Yes!
No!
“Because that’s the benchmark really isn’t it, Barnsley at home in the League Cup isn’t, but I still think you could see in his game, a definite player.”
TIF Thoughts on Sinisterra…
It was a promising start for Sinisterra who has had to annoyingly wait so long to make an impact at Leeds after the club splashed out £22.5 million on the winger who lit up the Eredivisie last season with 19 league goal involvements.
However, he will need to keep up that level of performance through the seasons and in every training session because as things stand, it’s going to be difficult to dislodge any of the Leeds attackers given the form they’re currently in.
If Hay is correct and Sinisterra won’t be starting, then it’s one hell of an option for Jesse Marsch to be able to call upon off the bench against a Brighton side who’ve conceded just one goal this season, so will likely be difficult to break down.
