Phil Hay has ruled out Leeds United looking or close to making a move for Ismaila Sarr this summer.

Yesterday was a rather frantic day on the Leeds transfer front having been linked with moves for Juan Mata, Che Adams and also Ismaila Sarr, who is fresh off the back of scoring a wonder goal in the Championship.

However, those reports were seemingly slammed and shut down rather quickly with Fabrizio Romano rubbishing talk of a move for Mata being close and now Hay has claimed that Leeds are certainly not anywhere close or looking to move for Sarr.

Hay was asked on The Phil Hay Show if Sarr was coming to Leeds and if a move was on the cards, which he replied by saying:

(7:20) “No, a strange day yesterday, report about Sarr from France, not the first time his name has come up, but giving the impression that it was very much on the cards and heading this way, which it definitely isn’t from speaking to the club, they’ve essentially ruled that one out.”

Should Leeds try and sign Sarr?

TIF Thoughts on links to Sarr…

While Leeds’ need for a new striker is rather obvious given they only have Patrick Bamford that’s started more than five Premier League games in his career in that department, Sarr is a much more natural winger, something that Leeds have a boatload of in their squad.

It’s a strange situation with Sarr as he’s got a decent record in front of goal for playing in a team like Watford in the Premier League with 10 goals and eight assists across 50 league games, however, it’s now the second time that clubs will have had the chance to sign him at a likely cut-price fee given he’s dropped down into the Championship, and nobody has taken up that opportunity.

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

Some Leeds fans may have potentially liked them to bring in Sarr, but the fact that Hay has gone to the club, asked them about it and they appear to have given a very straight answer will be pleasing to know they aren’t messing about with targets and getting caught up in any agent or media talk.
