Journalist Conor McGilligan has urged Leeds United to sell Dan James and spend that money on improving the squad with a new transfer.
As things stand, it looks like their is the possibility that the winger could be leaving the Whites and heading to a new Premier League before the end of the summer window.
Indeed, according to a recent report by Alan Nixon (via LeedsLive), Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for James sparking talk of an initial loan which would then include an obligation for a £20m switch.
While talking about these rumours on the One Leeds Fan Channel, McGilligan said it would be ‘way more advantageous’ for Leeds United if they were to sell James and get someone else in who is a better fit for the club.
He explained (5:17): “What is Dan James’ future at Leeds? Is he just going to be a 20-minute player where he comes on and runs around like a headless chicken for 20 minutes?
“Because will Dan James want that and is that going to be profitable for Leeds? Is it going to be beneficial for Leeds in the system?
“Potentially, yeah. But if we can get money for him, then buy another player in, that’s going to be way more advantageous for Leeds United.”
Leeds need more than a left back and striker. Selling Phillips and Raphinha was like losing 4 players. We desperately need a player capable and experienced enough to take command and lead the team on the pitch. Our defence is too weak, I had high hopes for Ramsus but he’s not good enough yet. The rest of the defence playing was rubbish last season and still is. What is the issue with Orta avoiding a new striker? Dan James is a lost soul out there. I like his industry and comittment but sadly I would rather see him succeed at another club than never succeed at Leeds. My comments are the same win or lose – we need better players , we are not going to wing it this season. How many players will we be without because of suspension or injury?
