David Ornstein has been speaking on the FIVE YouTube channel about Everton’s interest in Che Adams.
It’s pretty obvious to all Evertonians that they could do with a new striker arriving this summer after the departure of Richarlison and the fact Dominic Calvert-Lewin is finding it difficult to stay fit.
However, as things stand, Frank Lampard is persisting with Salomon Rondon, who has scored just once in the league since arriving last summer, although they are said to be interested in bringing in Southampton striker Adams.
While discussing the future of Anthony Gordon – who the Toffees want to ‘keep hold of’ – Ornstein confirmed that Adams is near the top of Everton’s recruitment transfer list.
He said: “This is a player [Gordon] who, within Everton’s recent struggles, has been their standout performer. He’s a homegrown talent, and clearly, he’s a player they would like to keep hold of.
“Also, they want other players in addition to him, not just a replacement – they’re looking for a striker, too. One of the names towards the top of their recruitment list is Che Adams at Southampton.”

While Adams would arrive Premier League-proven, which would see him not require any time to adapt, he isn’t the most prolific striker, with just 22 goals in 98 top-flight appearances, which suggests why his price tag is reportedly set at just £20m.
Something else that will now likely make a deal far more complicated is that Ralph Hasenhuttl has told the media that Adams is not going to be sold this summer, despite interest from Everton.
This may well be down to his recent form, which has seen him score four goals in his last two appearances for the Saints in the Premier League and Carabao Cup. And with Everton’s slim options up front, Lampard may be forced to take a gamble and pay over the odds for Adams if it remains his best option in terms of upgrading the Toffees’ attack.
