Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Everton are on the hunt to sign a striker before the summer transfer window ends.
Everton lost their top goalscorer in the Premier League from last season when Richarlison left the club, and it was recently announced that Dominic Calvert-Lewin would miss a period of games due to injury.
The Toffees have been on the hunt for a new striker since the start of the transfer window, and the latest two players who have been linked with a move to Goodison Park are Michy Batshuayi and Sasa Kalajdzic.
Having not signed any strikers in this transfer window so far, Jones spoke to GiveMeSport and claimed that Everton will make some moves for a forward this week.
He said: “I know that they are definitely exploring this at moment. I mean, they’re looking at loads of stuff at the moment, to be honest with you.
“The squad has been so short of the quality that’s needed to even survive in this division, let alone do anything. They played okay at the weekend but they still just lacked that cutting edge, so I think this week we’ll see them make some moves in the market in terms of a striker.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…
Everton are in a difficult position in terms of the attack. Anthony Gordon, who is naturally a winger, led the line in the opening fixture of the season on Saturday against Chelsea, so Frank Lampard will be keen to bring in a forward so that the youngster can return to his natural position.
However, the issue lies with bringing in someone who might not be keen to play second fiddle, as when Calvert-Lewin returns from injury, he may be expected to go straight back into the side rather than sit on the bench, unless the new striker really hits the ground running.
